BREAKING NEWS: Britney released from hospital
Posted on January 05, 2008 by Dan
BREAKING NEWS

TMZ has confirmed that Britney Spears has been released from Cedars-Sinai hospital, following an explosive morning in which she was done, done, done with it!

Sources say the hospital released her without notifying any of the principles involved in the ongoing kiddie drama. So, you ask, how could she have been released so quickly, given that she had been declared for a danger to herself and others? We're told the "5150 hold" means that she can be held against her will for a max of 72 hours, but if the hospital determines she is no longer a danger, they can release her before that.

Britney throws a screaming fit
Posted on January 05, 2008 by Dan
We are hearing from multiple sources that Britney Spears is throwing a fit on the 7th floor of Cedars-Sinai. She is demanding to leave, screaming at the staff, will not lay or sit still, we're told.

From all indications, she is being held on a 5150, which means she is a danger to herself and others. Typically, people in that situation can be held for 72 hours against their will.

We have also been told she has pulled her IV out and is generally out of control.

Alli Sims Didn't Break Down Door to Get to Britney
Posted on January 05, 2008 by Dan
Britney Spears' cousin and former assistant Alli Sims was not involved with rescuing the singer during her breakdown last night.

PageSix.com reported Sims used "brute force to pry the singer out of the bathroom where she had barricaded herself with son Jayden James late last night."

But Sims tells Usmagazine.com: "I absolutely was not there. And even if I was there I would not have banged down the door with a hammer, that's not my style. I would have knocked!"

Britney Sedated, Refusing Visitors
Posted on January 05, 2008 by Greg
Britney Spears is sedated and resting in the psychiatric unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A family insider tells PageSix.com that the singer requested that no visitors be admitted and her doctors agreed.

In the meantime, more details are surfacing about the singer’s early-morning showdown with police. After Britney refused to give the kids to Kevin Federline’s bodyguard, her ex-husband went to her house to retrieve them himself.

“When Kevin got to the house and saw how messed up Britney was and how distraught the boys were, he tried to get her to release them,” the source tells PageSix.com.

The mother of two responded by locking herself in the bathroom with son Jayden (and possibly Sean) “in an effort to hide from Kevin and then the police.”

The origins of the black-and-blue mark that sent one-year-old Jayden to the hospital along with Britney remains a source of contention.

“Right now we hear that she is telling the police that the bruise was on Jayden when she got him from Kevin,” the source tells PageSix.com. “However, I have been told that the bruise was caused when Britney pulled Jayden into the bathroom. He was afraid, and she forced him.”

The exes have not had much interaction since the bathroom standoff.

“Kevin tried to talk to Britney at the hospital last night and she freaked out,” says the insider. “He wanted to try and get to the bottom of what she did, but she was not cooperative.”

Along with Britney’s family, Kevin is also said to want a judge to order the singer into rehab.

“Britney is in a horrible state of mind,” says the source. “Suicidal is an accurate description. She has made threats, in the past, and recently in words such as ‘I should just drop off the face of the planet’ and ‘If I were dead…’”

However, the source assures PageSix.com that Britney might only be a danger to herself and “has never made threats about hurting the boys.”

EXCLUSIVE: Britney NOT on drugs!
Posted on January 05, 2008 by Dan
Life & Style can exclusively report that Britney Spears blood tests at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center came back negative, despite earlier reports from police that she appeared to be under the influence of a substance when she was taken from her home after a custody dispute last night.

“Her blood test just came back, and, thank God, it was clean. There are no traces of drugs or alcohol of any kind,” a source close to the Spears family tells Life & Style.

This indicates that her odd behavior was not the result of substance abuse, as early reports suggested.

Britney appeared to be laughing when she was taken from her home into an ambulance.

But an LAPD spokesperson was unable to confirm or deny to Life & Style on Friday morning that earlier reports indicated that cops believed Britney appeared to be under the influence of a substance when they arrived on the scene.

BREAKING NEWS: Britney Temporarily Loses Visitation Rights
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Dan
BREAKING NEWS

Britney Spears's visitation rights were temporarily suspended Friday following her 72-hour lockdown for a mental evaluation.

Kevin Federline is "awarded sole legal custody and sole physical custody of the minor children," the judge said in a written ruling after an emergency hearing.

The judge said Spears's "visitation with the minor children is suspended pending further order of the court."

The order is in effect until Jan. 14.

After the 40-minute hearing, Federline's attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan said: "There are no winners here."

He said he was "not happy about any of the events that have happened."

Police responded to Spears's house on Thursday night after she refused to turn over the boys to Federline's bodyguard after a visitation day. Kaplan arrived at the house "to bring a document ... that identified the existing court order" about custody, he earlier told the Associated Press.

"I was up at the guard gate where (she) lives," he told AP. "I did not go in" to the home.

On Friday, Kaplan and Spears's attorney met privately with the judge in his chambers, then returned in the afternoon for a closed hearing.

Spears, meanwhile, is not facing any criminal charges – for now.

"The LAPD is not planning to file any charges against Ms. Spears at this time," Officer April Harding tells PEOPLE. "The investigation is ongoing."

Inside Britney's Hospital Nightmare
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Dan

Britney Spears was stripped and had her personal belongings taken away upon arrival at the hospital this morning.

The singer arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center via ambulance shortly before 1 a.m. After a brief intake with a triage nurse she was turned over to the psychiatric ward.

“She was immediately stripped by security of her clothing, to prevent her from potentially harming herself,” an insider tells PageSix.com. “She had her personal items taken away as well, and all the items were put in a bag and a safe by security.”

Britney was then examined by a psychiatrist who asked the singer countless questions, including whether she wanted to harm herself or others. A doctor also questioned Kevin Federline about his ex-wife’s mental state.

Meanwhile, a hospital insider tells Usmagazine.com that nobody wanted to be Britney Spears’ monitor last night after she was admitted as a “special needs” patient, meaning that they have either overdosed or tried to commit suicide.

With “special needs" patients, the source said, “we watch them so they don't hurt themselves and watch the people who come visit them to make sure they don't pass anything to them.”

The insider added: “So we got a call to go have someone sit with her. None of us wanted to go sit with her."

Alli Used Hammer to Break Down Door
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Dan
Britney Spears’ assistant Alli Sims had to use brute force to pry the singer out of the bathroom where she had barricaded herself with son Jayden James late last night.

The drama began earlier that day at the child custody deposition, which distressed the star so much that she allegedly began drinking vodka as soon as she got home. The court-appointed monitor and Sims were with Britney at her Mulholland Drive home, trying to calm her down, but as Britney’s emotional state worsened she locked herself inside the master suite bathroom. Eventually, Sims used a hammer to break the door down and then called emergency services.

The police arrived at 8:30 p.m. after Britney reportedly refused to hand over her two sons to Kevin Federline's bodyguard.

Another factor in the meltdown? A source tells PageSix.com.com that Britney had recently “freaked out” on Kevin after hearing reports that he’d been flirting with her frenemy Paris Hilton.

“She is mad that he would get involved with her ‘so called’ friend,” says the source. “Kevin told her that Paris hit on him, but she did not believe him.”

Source: Jayden had a bruise on him
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Dan
Britney Spears’ 2-year-old son Jayden James Federline was hospitalized this morning along with his famous mother.

The singer’s youngest son was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center via ambulance because Britney said that he had a bruise on him, a family insider tells PageSix.com, adding, “And she said she did not do it.”

After the boy was examined and found to be fine, the hospital released him to father Kevin Federline.

"The boys are okay, just very shaken up," says the family insider. "It took Kevin quite a while to get them settled down."

Lynne Spears Speaks: 'Just Say Prayers'
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Niki
"Britney Spears's mother is asking for "prayers" following the news of her daughter's hospitalization.

On Friday, Lynne Spears was "extremely distraught" on the phone, and said, "Just say prayers," when reached by Access Hollywood.

Lynne, who's been in constant contact with Britney, and 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn have been in seclusion following the December bombshell that Jamie Lynn is pregnant. The two are now en route to their hometown, Kentwood, La., from an undisclosed location, a source says.

Meanwhile, the whole family is "terrified" about the situation, a source close to the family tells PEOPLE. "Everyone has been worried for some time," says the source. "Her world has been crumbling around her and this is another call for help. Her parents are just devastated. Nobody knows if they can take much more, but they're trying to be as strong as they can."

Spears's father Jamie was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Thursday night, and her older brother Bryan was expected to show up Friday, according to a source.

Another family friend, Spears's former dance teacher Renee Donewar, tells PEOPLE, "I don't even know where Britney's head is. I thought she had already hit rock bottom. I can't imagine what's next."

Donewar says she believes Britney will (and should) lose custody of her kids.

"She keeps digging herself deeper and deeper," says Donewar. "How can anybody say, 'She's been through a rough time and she should have her children.' She is not in a state of mind to have her children. She's confirming everything bad that people think. It is really a shame."

She added: "[Britney] was such a level-headed kid, she knew what she wanted, and she was determined to get it and to make it. Now she has it, and what is she doing with it?"

Added another family friend: "I just hope she'll pull out of this and get on the right road to recovery. A good rest here in Kentwood might do her some good."

Britney Spears and son rushed to hospital after custody stand-off
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Dan

Britney Spears and her younger son were rushed to hospital in ambulances today after a four-hour showdown in which she refused to hand over her children to former husband Kevin Federline despite a court order.

Aerial footage from a local television station showed Spears, surrounded by six police cars, a fire engine and hordes of paparazzi, stretchered out of her Los Angeles home and into a waiting ambulance at around 11pm (0700GMT Friday).

The gossip website TMZ reported that the singer - whose disintegrating personal life has been splashed across the world's media - was under the influence of an "unknown substance". Pictures on the website showed her smiling as she was wheeled away on a trolley.

Spears was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre on a "medical hold", which, according to TMZ, means she will undergo a mental health evaluation.

The website also claimed that Spears's 1-year-old son, Jayden James, was taken to hospital in a separate ambulance, although it was not clear if he needed any treatment.

Police had been called to the property three hours earlier. Jason Lee, a police spokesman, said that Spears "was refusing to hand the children over to their father as part of a court order".

BREAKING NEWS: Britney Spears Hospitalized for 'An Evaluation'
Posted on January 04, 2008 by Dan

"While officers were on the scene, they observed Ms. Spears under the influence of an unknown substance"

Britney Spears has been taken to a Los Angeles hospital for "an evaluation" after police were called to her Studio City home for a "custodial dispute" Thursday.

At around 8 p.m. police responded to a call "about a custodial dispute regarding Britney Spears's children," said LAPD officer Jason Lee.

Nearly three hours later, police determined that a court order stated that the singer's children, who were with Spears at the time, were supposed to be with Kevin Federline, and a transfer was arranged, according to Lee.

"While officers were on the scene, they observed Ms. Spears under the influence of an unknown substance," Lee added. "She is now being taken in for an evaluation, more than likely to a hospital. There were no reported injuries to anyone involved including the children."

In addition to multiple officers, fire trucks, two ambulance and a police helicopter were all on the scene. At one point, Spears was seen being taken to an ambulance on a gurney.

After Spears arrived at the hospital, her father, Jamie, and her ex, Federline – as well as both of her sons – were spotted there. A source confirms that the boys were not being treated for any injuries.

Spears, who has visitation rights with her two sons Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, was scheduled to give the boys over to Federline at 7 p.m. Thursday. A bodyguard for Federline arrived to pick up the boys at the designated time, but Spears refused to relinquish her sons, according to a source.

Police – as well as Federline's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan – arrived at the house close to 8 p.m., though Kaplan was later seen leaving.

Earlier in the day, Spears showed up 90 minutes late to a scheduled deposition in her custody case – and stayed for only a fraction of an hour.

Back at her Studio City home directly after the hearing, when a photographer asked if Kaplan was nice to her, Spears, 26, responded with an emphatic, "No!"

When reached by PEOPLE, Spears's lawyer Sorrell Trope, who on Wednesday filed a request to withdraw from the singer's custody case, said only: "No comment."
